Wallace Stebbins

Wallace O. "Wally" Stebbins, 91, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2025. He was born in Baltimore on November 9, 1934 to the late Arthur V. and M. Sophie (Buchmeier) Stebbins. Wally is survived by his daughter Kristen Hasenstab and her husband Jason; grandchildren Michaela Jeanfreau, Justin Jeanfreau, and Madison Grothe; great-grandchildren Valerie Jeanfreau and Evangeline Laskosky. He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Stebbins.

Wally graduated from Polytechnic Institute in Baltimore in 1952. He then served his country in the U.S. Navy as a submariner, later servicing the submarine USS Torsk in the Baltimore harbor. In 1966 he went to work for Joseph E. Seagrams and Son and retired from there in 2001. He was a member of Temple Beth Israel, B'nai B'rith, American Jewish Congress, World Jewish Congress, Jewish War Veteran of U.S. Post #0205, York, PA, Temple Beth Israel Men's Club and the U.S.S. Orion A5 18 Veterans Historical Organization.

A graveside service will be held Monday, December 8, 2025, 11 am at South Hill Hebrew Cemetery, 2101 Old Baltimore Pike, York, PA 17403. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jewish War Veterans, 1811 R Street NW, Washington, DC 20009 or jwv@jwv.org
