Rickey E. "Rick" McSherry

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, Rickey E. "Rick" McSherry, 72, of New Freedom, passed away at home with his wife of 15 years, Jean E. (Berkheimer) McSherry by his side. Rick was born on March 7, 1954, in Hanover, PA, to Pauline T. (Ruth) McSherry and the late Larry E. McSherry, Sr. He graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1973, where he proudly played football, baseball and basketball. He then worked at Summers Canning Co. for several years, then retired from Acco Material Handling in 2019.
Rick loved playing baseball, and then fast pitch softball. He played in the New Freedom Fast Pitch League for several years for teams such as New Freedom Hardware, Hammonds Body Shop and the Invaders. He also enjoyed watching the Orioles and the Ravens; mowing the grass and other yard work; and spending time with his family. He was a kind, loving husband, son and brother.
Rick is survived by his wife; mother; brothers, Jerry McSherry and Larry McSherry, Jr. and his companion, Moira Sheckells; sisters, JoAnne Rehmeyer and companion Roger Bowman, Bonnie Kelley and Husband Adam, and Diane McSherry; his best friend since childhood, Kim Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews; and grand nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Wayne E. McSherry.
Rick and his family would like to thank Pablo, Irene and family; Dan and Marjorie; and Sue and Jeff for everything they did for him; and special thank you's to Dr. Nicholas Lumsden, Laura Schmitt of WellSpan Wellness, Nurse Marcie from VNA, his Hospice Nurse Marilyn and his Hospice Aide Sara for all of the special care that he received from all of them. Public visitations will be held on Wednesday, June 3, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and again on Thursday, June 4 from 10:00am until a funeral service begins at 11:00am, all taking place at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, PA.
