Paul W. Bricker Shrewsbury, PA Paul W. Bricker, 86, entered his rest on Friday August 2, 2013, at Barbara J. Egen Nursing Home in Shrewsbury. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, with Rev. Adam Burtt and Rev. Kevin Callahan officiating. Burial will be in St. Jacob’s Stone Church Cemetery, Glenville. Viewings will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Paul was born on January 23, 1927 in Railroad, PA the son of the late John H. and Fayetta E. (Swartzbaugh) Bricker. Paul was the husband of Ruth L. (Newcomer) Bricker, with whom he celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on June 28, 2013. He was employed for 14 years at the Superior Wire Cloth Plant in Hungerford as a floorman, and worked for nearly 20 years at PENN-DOT as a blacksmith and welder, repairing all sorts of highway machinery. He also had his own weld shop at home, and was a farmer all his life. Paul was a member of Grace Bible Church in New freedom. His early hobby was horseback riding, having his own horse and having learned to shoe his horse, then be began to shoe horses for other farmers. He took great pleasure in horses. Later, his favorite hobby was collecting and maintaining horse-drawn plows, of which he had around forty. Mr. Bricker was known for always being willing to help a helping hand. He loved the west and traveled there numerous times and because he hated the cold weather, he and his wife spent the past 14 winters in Florida. Besides his wife; he is survived by his brother Preston Bricker of Railroad, PA, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Elias, Harry, and Irvin; and three sisters, Katherine Bubb, Eva Smeltzer, and Betty Jane Bricker, who died at 12 years of age. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Bible Church,18 W. Main Street, New Freedom, PA 17349; or a charity of your choice.
