Linda E. Tome

Linda E. (Shaffer) Tome, 74 of York, passed away December 14, 2021, with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Frederick C. Tome, Jr. to whom she was married for 44 years prior to his passing 2017. Linda was born on May 13, 1947, in Hanover and was a daughter of the late Earl Leroy and Mary Alice (Rohrbaugh) Shaffer. She was a 1965 graduate of the Southwestern High School where she was a band member and class officer. She worked at Hanover Shoe and as an accounts payable clerk at P.H. Glatfelter, Spring Grove. Linda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jefferson where she was a long-time choir member, Sunday school teacher, children’s choir piano accompaniment, a member of the quilting group and a former youth group leader. She is survived by a daughter Susan B. Long and her husband Mark of York; two sons James F. Tome and his wife Clara of Berkeley Heights, NJ, and Mark A. Tome and his wife Jamie of Spring Grove; seven grandchildren, Theo, Charlotte, Matthew, Marin, Cooper, Cassie, and Weston; and a sister Donna L. Shaffer of Hanover. A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday December 18, 2021, until the funeral begins at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6 York Street, Codorus, PA with Rev. Michael Fischer, Interim Pastor, Officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery. Contributions in Linda’s name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Memorial Fund, PO Box 218, Codorus, PA 17311.
