It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John E. Tracey, aged 77, who left us on August 23, 2026. Born on September 7, 1948, in York, Pennsylvania, John lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a profound love for his family. He resided in Shrewsbury, PA, where he embraced the joys of family life and the simple pleasures in his surroundings.

John was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Cindy (Smith) Tracey, with whom he shared 26 cherished years of marriage. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter and joy. As a father, he is survived by his son, John Tracey, and daughters Lee Ann Huntsman and husband Robbie and Vicky Trone, instilling in them the values of hard work and compassion. He was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren-Ethan Miller, Emma Trone, Aiden Trone, Oliveah Sowers, Xavier Sowers, and Maryalice Cole-and a great-grandfather to Layla and Blysse, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life.

John spent his career as a truck driver in the waste management industry, a job he approached with integrity and diligence. Outside of work, he found solace and happiness in the beauty of the West Virginia mountains and created cherished memories visiting Waynesboro and Collinsville, PA. In 2020, he experienced the joy of the beach for the first time, a testament to his adventurous spirit. He cherished moments spent with family at Mr. Ed's Elephant Museum in Gettysburg, PA, and found great delight in the rhythms of bluegrass music.

John's family wishes to honor his memory through private services, honoring his wishes and celebrating the life he lived. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to Amedysis Hospice of York at 984 Loucks Rd., Ste. 1, York, PA 17404, recognizing the compassionate care they provided.

John E. Tracey will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. May his memory remind us to embrace life with the warmth, love, and laughter that he embodied so beautifully.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Tracey and Betty (Rinehart) Tracey, and three siblings, Kenneth Tracey, Joyce Schofield, and Dorothy Sliger.
