Dear Son born in Baltimore, MD to John Charles Phaller and Catherine Martha Phaller (Appel). Beloved Husband of 61 years to Betty Ann (Langley); cherished Father of Jennifer Ann (David Savin) and Erin Michele (John Phelps); Grandfather of Alexandra Savin and Melissa Savin and "bonus" Grandchildren Jonathon Phelps (Lisa (Rhoderick), Lilly, Bryson), Nari Phelps (David Doyle, Gabriel) and Gregory Phelps; Brother-in-Law, Uncle, Cousin and Friend.

After graduating from Baltimore's Polytechnic Institute, Jack proudly served in the United States Air Force, which led to a long career as a Logistics Engineer with AAI Corporation in Cockeysville, MD, and eventually United Defense/BAE Systems in York, PA until his retirement in 2016. He earned his BS degree from Johns Hopkins University and Professional Logistician Certification from the Society of Logistics Engineers. His strong work ethic and writing skills led to much freelance work, as well.

As the saying goes, Jack never met a stranger and was very involved in his church and community. He held an unwavering faith in God and as a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Baltimore, Jack regularly served as an usher, was a member of the Social Ministry team, taught Sunday School, and was trained and served as a Stephen Minister.  In his local community, Jack was a member of HARBEL Community Association, participated in his Neighborhood Watch, and worked on Martin O'Malley's mayoral campaign. He served as President of the Baltimore chapter of the Air Force Association, and always stopped to thank members of the military for their service and strike up a conversation. Upon Betty's retirement in 2004, they relocated from their hometown to York, PA.

Jack was an avid reader and enthusiastic Orioles and Ravens fan, loved his dogs, and delighted in taking his family to concerts, air shows and on vacations. Although he enjoyed talking to and helping people in any way he could, Jack loved his family above all else.
