James R.A. Gantz

James R. A. Gantz New Freedom James R. Gantz, 94, of Springfield Township, died Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Manor Care, Dallastown. He was the husband of the late Doreen E.M. (Jones) Gantz. Funeral Services and burial will be private. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is assisting with the arrangements. Mr. Gantz was born in Springfield Township on June 12, 1924 and was a son of the late Ray A. and Naomi W. (Bonnet) Gantz. He was a 1941 graduate of New Freedom High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during WWII with the 59th Signal Battalion. James farmed in the Springfield Township area for many years and retired from AMP, Inc., where he was a tool room clerk and work in maintenance. Prior to that he worked as a mechanic for Amspacher’s Garage, Glen Rock, and as a school bus driver for the Dallastown Area School District. He leaves a daughter, Sandra A. Urban and her husband Joseph of Lancaster, VA; two sons, Ray A. Gantz and his wife Donna of Jacobus and John K. Gantz and his wife Berit of New Freedom; four grandchildren, Christopher N. Gantz and wife Jennifer, Laura E. Hagan and husband Brian, James R.A. Gantz and Elizabeth M. Witman and husband Matt; seven great-grandchildren, Alexander, Jacob and Matthew Witman, Elijah Gantz, Ben, Naomi and Ethan Hagan. He was predeceased by two grandsons, Matthew and Jonathan Gantz and a brother Charles Gantz. Condolences may be shared at geiple.com.
