On Monday, October 13, 2025, Henry "Larry" Lawrence Young, Jr., age 74, of Glen Rock, peacefully passed away at Stella Maris Long-Term Care in Timonium, Maryland. He was the devoted husband of Lee Ann (Holt) Young, with whom he shared 52 years of love and marriage.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Mildred C. (Spangenberger) and Henry L. Young, Sr., Henry was raised in Dundalk and graduated from Patapsco Senior High School in 1970. He became a Master Electrician in the state of Maryland and spent over 30 years with CONSOL Energy in Baltimore, serving as Electrical Maintenance Supervisor before retiring.
Henry was also deeply committed to his community and proudly served as a Shrewsbury Township Supervisor, including time on the zoning board, until recently stepping down.
Above all, Henry was a proud and devoted father of four. His heart was forever marked by the loss of his oldest child and only son, Christopher Steven Young, who passed away in 2005 at the age of 29. Chris and Henry shared an unbreakable bond which was rooted in music, laughter, and a shared sense of humor. Not a day passed without Chris in his thoughts. Henry carried his son's memory close to his heart, and his family takes comfort in knowing that father and son are now reunited.
Family was the center of Henry's world. He loved being "Dad" and "Pop Pop," and his children and grandchildren will forever remember how fully he showed up for them. Whether coaching their childhood sports teams, cheering at high school football games and marching band competitions, making weekend college visits, or traveling to their homes to fix or build something, Henry was always there.
A natural "Mr. Fix-It," Henry could repair just about anything: cars, appliances, wiring, and even the plumbing and painting projects he disliked most. His children often began phone calls with, "Dad, my car is making a noise that goes like this..." and he somehow always knew what to do. In 1990, Henry and Lee Ann bought land in Shrewsbury Township and spent 16 months building their own home by hand and together. It became the heart of their family, filled with love, laughter, and long visits from grandchildren.
Henry found joy in life's simple pleasures: riding his Harley, cheering for the Ravens and Penn State football, traveling with Lee Ann and his girls, listening to music, and relaxing with a good show or documentary.
Henry's absence will be deeply felt by all who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Lee Ann; his daughters, Regina Landry and husband Michael, Teresa Crane and husband Marvin, and Diana Tufano and husband Adam; his grandchildren, Kaylee, Maddie, Charlotte, and Grant; his brothers, Norman Brown and Dale Young; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
He is reunited in peace with his parents, his beloved son Christopher, and his sister Joyce Hutchins.
Public viewings will be held on Monday, October 20, from 3:00-7:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday, October 21, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m., all at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock.
