On Monday, May 18, 2026, Gary Thomas Bilbie, 85, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully at SpiriTrust Lutheran in Shrewsbury. He was the husband of the late Julie Bilbie.
Gary was born on July 20, 1940, in York, PA, to the late John Thomas and Velma V. (Williams) Bilbie.
He graduated from Dallastown High School and then received degrees from Gettysburg College and Gettysburg Theological Seminary. He also went on to receive a Master's in Divinity from Loyola University. Gary was the Pastor at Christ Lutheran Church in Shrewsbury, and then Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Frederick, MD for several years.
He was an avid sports fan and was the Susquehannock High School Wrestling Coach from 1981-1985. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and sports, particularly wrestling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Gary is survived by three children, Christopher Bilbie and partner Beth Blough, Michael Bilbie and wife Kirsten, and Stephen Bilbie and wife Cherie; two step-children, James Warrington and wife Sharon, and Steve Warrington and wife Tiffany; six grandchildren, Nathan, Seth, Aaron, Mikayla, Hannah and Andrew; and four step-grandchildren, Jake, Katie, Conner and Brynn.
Services are private at the family's request. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st St., Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131. Online condolences may be made under Share a Memory on this page.
