She was the devoted wife of the late E. Gerald Thompson for 60 years before his passing in 2007. Florence also assisted her husband while he was a Pastor for 11 years at the Shrewsbury Church of the Brethren. Florence was a member of the Ladies Auxillary at the Brethern Home at Cross Keys Village where she volunteered for many years.
As a seamstress, she enjoyed making clothes for her daughters and other family and friends. She would also make quilts for church along with quilts for wall hangings. Baking was another fine quality that she possessed. She enjoyed baking pies for the Women's Fellowship, church events and friends. Florence would also can many fruits and vegetables from her garden, including her award winning canned carrots. She shared many of her family recipes with her family and others.
Florence was always happy and smiling, and was cheerful to everyone. She was also a caretaker to many family members over the years. She truly enjoyed serving the Lord and doing the Lord's work.
