On Monday, July 13, 2026, David L. Ferree, Sr., 85, of York, passed away peacefully at Senior Commons at Powder Mill in York. He was the loving husband to Patricia Ann (Meckley) Ferree for 65 years.
David was born on April 25, 1941, in York, to the late Charles H. and Grace E. (McConnell) Ferree.
He graduated from William Penn High School in 1959, then worked for Superior Mold Builders, Caterpillar and the former AMP, Inc. as a tool and die maker until he retired. After retirement he worked part-time for Tim Pasch Construction and the Red Cross. Dave was a member of St. Peter's Church in Seven Valleys; the Loganville-Springfield Township Senior Citizens Association; the Springfield Township Sportsmans Club; and the Lucky 7 Club in Tioga County, PA. Dave was a frequent blood donor and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing yard work and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; one son, David Ferree, Jr. and wife Sharon; two daughters, Tammy Cutler and husband Ron, and Christine Miller and husband David; three grandchildren, Abby Miller and partner Lindsay DeFusco, Allison Putsch and husband Jake, and Logan Ferree; one great-grandson who was the sunshine of Dave's life, Jackson Putsch; three bonus granddaughters, Kelli, Evie, and Marilyn; three brothers, Donald Ferree and wife Gail, Stanley Ferree and wife Susie, and Curtis Ferree and wife Linda; and his fur-baby, Molly.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Esther Raffensberger and Linda Frantz; four brothers, Marvin, Gaylord, Victor and Dannis Ferree; and one son-in-law, Owen Aldinger.
Public viewing will be held on Friday, July 17, from 10:00am until a funeral service begins at 11:00am at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Following a luncheon in the Funeral Home Event Center, interment will follow in Salem Union Cemetery, Jacobus. Pastor Thomas Beck will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Caring Hospice Services of Central PA, 101 Good Dr., Unit 1, Lancaster, PA 17603. Online condolences may be made at www.geiple.com.
