Daniel Earlston Sullivan, 84, of York, PA, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026.

Dan was an independent spirit who spent his career as a truck driver until his retirement. A doer and a fixer by nature, he enjoyed tinkering with cars and boats, spending weekends boating and fishing, and taking Sunday drives with his family. In recent years, he took particular delight in learning that his oldest grandson had followed in his footsteps and become a truck driver himself.

He loved animals and always made sure the wildlife and strays around him were cared for. His compassion for animals was a quality he passed along to his daughter and grandsons.

Music was another of Dan's great passions. He loved to sing and, for many years, shared his voice at churches and nursing homes. A devoted Elvis Presley fan, he even named his daughter Lisa Marie in honor of the legendary singer.

Dan was also an avid model railroad enthusiast, creating elaborate train gardens that remained on display year-round. He always loved sharing this passion with his grandsons whenever they got to spend time together.

In his later years, Dan found his greatest happiness at home alongside his beloved wife, Joan Hopkins-Sullivan (née Strubin), with whom he shared 36 years of life and love. He loved her fiercely, and she remained the center of his world until the very end. Although he preferred the quiet of home, he continued to enjoy frequent conversations with family and longtime friends, maintaining connections that meant so much to him.

Dan leaves behind his beloved wife, daughter, stepsons, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends, each of whom will carry their own memories of him.
