Arnold Bowser

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Arnold L. "Arnie" Bowser, 89, passed away peacefully with family by his side. He was the devoted husband to Evelyn C. (Pfeifer) Bowser for 64 years. Arnie was born on July 11, 1936, in Punxsutawney, PA, to the late Harry M. and Hazel Ford Bowser. He graduated from Western Pennsylvania School for the Blind in 1957. He then received a Bachelor's Degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1960 and received his Master's Degree after that from Loyola University of Maryland.
Being blind his entire life, Arnie had 10 seeing eye dogs, in which he absolutely adored.
He was a school teacher for over 45 years, teaching for the Maryland School for the Blind and the New Mexico School for the Blind. He was also a member of Friedensaal Evangelical Lutheran Church in Seven Valleys.
Arnie was a Master Caner, and had his own re-finishing and caning business. He had been caning and re-finishing furniture for over 70 years. He also made clocks, enjoyed fishing, horses, and followed the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. Mostly, he was a devoted family man. He cherished spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arnie is survived by his wife; three children, Lownetta (Lonnie) Bull and husband George, Kimberly Crossman and husband Rodger, and Garlan Bowser and wife Laura; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 12 siblings; and a baby son.
Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 10:00am until a funeral service begins at 11:00am at Friedensaal Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9138 White Church Rd., Seven Valleys, PA 17360. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Everyone is welcome to a luncheon in the church hall following the service.
