James F. Jim, Derksen, 69, of Glen Rock, died Tuesday July 20, 2010 at his home, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Raynette M. (Lentsch) Derksen, with whom he celebrated a 49th wedding anniversary on November 12. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 26, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 315 North Constitution Avenue, New Freedom with Rev. Fr. Sylvan Capitani, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock. There will be no viewing Monday. Mr. Derksen was born on August 6, 1940 Iowa City, Iowa, a son of the late John T. and Laura M. (Spotts) Derksen. He retired as Vice President of Aircraft Financing and Leasing with Commercial Credit Corp following 20 years of service. Following his retirement he had co-owned York Aero, Inc. in Thomasville and for several years owned the Springfield Bowling Center near Loganville. He was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church, where he was a past Board member and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter #8891. He also served on the Board of the Southern York County Community Services and was a member of the American Bowling Congress, Jaycees in Berks County and the AOPA. Besides his wife, Jim also leaves, a daughter, Teresa A. Williams of Dover; two sons, Brian J. Derksen of Dover and Jeffrey S. Derksen and wife Alejandra of York; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and three sisters, Mary J. Carman of Florida, Romona Shaffer of Pennsylvania and Virginia A Fenner of California and a brother, Ted E. Derksen of Virginia. He was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Hanson, Phyllis Derksen and four brothers, Gary, John, Larry and Eddie Derksen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Old Rectory Restoration Fund, 315 North Constitution Avenue, New Freedom, PA 17349 or to VNA/Hospice of York, 218 East Market Street, York, PA 17403. The family extends special thanks to the many friends, neighbors and extended family members for continued prayers and support through Jims illness.
