Alleine M. (Gladfelter) Smith, 95, of the Barbara J. Egan Nursing Center, Shrewsbury, who was formerly of Codorus, died Wednesday January 5, 2011 at the home. She was the wife of the late George P. Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, with her pastor the Rev. Paula Murray, officiating. Burial will be in St. Jacob’s (Stone) Church Cemetery, Glenville. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith was born on May 7, 1915 in Codorus Township, a daughter of the late Horace F. and Annie K. (Kerr) Gladfelter.
She was employed as a seamstress, for many years, at several local Southern York County sewing companies. She was a member of the St. Jacob’s (Stone) Lutheran Church, Glenville and was a resident of the Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Village community since 1992.
She is survived by four daughters, Sidney F. McWilliams and Tersie P. Krebs, both of Glen Rock, Linda L. Wise of York and Donna L. Bollinger of Hanover; a son, Janna T. Smith of York; 23 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren; and two sisters, Marian Ambrosius of Glenville and Betty Taylor of York. She was predeceased by a step son, George E. Smith.
